Purple Hibiscus Reading Response

In the book Purple Hibiscus, there is a lot going on with Kambili coming home from her aunts house to her Dad beating her because she painted a photo of her late grandfather. I really like how the author showed how Aunt Ifeoma changed Kambili and Jaja. The aunt changed them by showing the fun and a loving personality which they did not get from home. Jaja and Kambili did not receive love from their parents because their Dad is very religious and there Mom is scared to love them because she is scared to the her husbands response.
Father Amadi is the first person we see Kambili really have a "crush" on. Kambili starts showing signs of like Father Amadi after she went to the stadium with him. This is also a crucial shift in us meeting Kamibil as readers because this is the first time she shows real emotion. Kambili shows emotion again whenever her grandfather passed away which was surprising to me.

Story in the Summer Week Two

I was at my house with my friend Ben. Ben and I decided to go outside and play basketball. We decided to play horse. It was a close game but I beat Ben in the game even though Ben is a lot better then me at basketball. Ben was really angry because I won by making a shot that I probably I would never make again.  Ben and I then decided to play a one on one game to twenty-one. I went up twelve to four then Ben started to make a comeback and had the game within four points. I then hit a three in which put me up on Ben fifteen to eight. I eventually one the game twenty-one to seventeen. I was happy because I usually never beat Ben in basketball because he has played it a lot longer then I did.
