Symbolism

Every Saturday Bill would go to the gas station with his friends. Bill would always get the same thing a bottle of soda and a chocolate candy bar, while his friends John and Mike would always just get a soda. A soda was four dollars and a chocolate bar was one dollar.
Bill never knew why they did not get food with their soda. They would always bike the three miles there and back in about 30 minutes. Once they got to Delaware Street Bill, Mike, and John would take a left to their houses and where all neighbots. Bill went back a house with his parents and two sisters and started away at his chores.  Mike and John also went back to their parents and siblings but played video games.

Bill would swept the house, fed the animals, and cleaned the dishes each day. Once Bill was done with that he went and walked dogs for all the elderly people in his neighborhood. Bill only earned about five dollars each week and Mike and John earned four. Mike and John did not do nearly as much work as Bill did but still almost made the same amount of money. But Bill never played video games or took a break besides those bike rides. Bill, Mike, and John went to the same school for their whole school career, but Bill became a doctor and Bill and Mike became a doctor too.  Bill also always kept to his tradition and went to the gas station on Saturday.

chocolate bar= the extra work

  1. This is a really good example of symbolism because it shows what symbolism is while keeping the story interesting to read. Good job

Reading Reflection Week One

The one book I read over the summer is The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore. This book is based in modern time in two different places. The book is written from two point of views, the two point of views the author uses is Marina and John. I really liked how the author did two point of views because I liked how you could see two point of views who were not in he same country. One strategy I used while reading this was reading 30 pages per day. This strategy really helped me not have to read a bunch of pages on the last week of summer but I could read a couple of pages a day and hang out with friends too. Another strategy I used was that I took notes on the books so I could remember the book at the beginning of the school year. One theme I noticed in this book is adversity. You notice this multiple times whenever John and Marina face Mogodorians or other forces against them. Another theme I noticed is team ship you see this when John, Six, and Sam work together and feed off each oth...

Story in the Summer Week Two

I was at my house with my friend Ben. Ben and I decided to go outside and play basketball. We decided to play horse. It was a close game but I beat Ben in the game even though Ben is a lot better then me at basketball. Ben was really angry because I won by making a shot that I probably I would never make again.  Ben and I then decided to play a one on one game to twenty-one. I went up twelve to four then Ben started to make a comeback and had the game within four points. I then hit a three in which put me up on Ben fifteen to eight. I eventually one the game twenty-one to seventeen. I was happy because I usually never beat Ben in basketball because he has played it a lot longer then I did.

Hit and Misses

I feel like this English year went well for me. I did have some misses with the hits. So one miss I felt I had this year was the literary analysis on Lord of the Flies. I felt like the literary analysis was a miss for me because I was awful at the literary analysis, I really just found the analysis hard and confusing to me. Another miss for me was the research paper. I found the research paper to be awful because it took up all my time for homework and it was hard to do work in other classes.      I had some hits this year. I felt the personal narrative to be a hit of mine because it was a easy paper for me to write because it was based on something personal to me not, something I researched or read. Another hit for me this year where the blogs because I found them to be an easy way to twenty points and a way to improve my writing.
