Logan's Blog

     One of my strengths is that I can make personal connections within my writing. This strength helped me in my personal narrative and connect my life. Another strength of mine is being able to write short response to a topic. This strength helps me in other classes besides English because I use this strength in history.       One of my challenges is that I am awful with grammar. I tried to fix this challenge over the year and it improved a little bit, but I still had to practice on it and use Grammarly a lot. Another challenge of mine was researching a topic then writing about it. I really had trouble with the research project because of this challenge 

     I feel like this English year went well for me. I did have some misses with the hits. So one miss I felt I had this year was the literary analysis on Lord of the Flies. I felt like the literary analysis was a miss for me because I was awful at the literary analysis, I really just found the analysis hard and confusing to me. Another miss for me was the research paper. I found the research paper to be awful because it took up all my time for homework and it was hard to do work in other classes.      I had some hits this year. I felt the personal narrative to be a hit of mine because it was a easy paper for me to write because it was based on something personal to me not, something I researched or read. Another hit for me this year where the blogs because I found them to be an easy way to twenty points and a way to improve my writing.

Matthew-What are your favorite video games? Peyton- power rangers

     One of the best movies I have seen this year was It. It is a horrifying movie about a killer clown that kills kids. It was a movie that I saw in the movie with my friends and why I found it such an enjoyable movie. It really scared me though because of the constant jump scares and because of my fears of clowns. Another good movie I saw this year was Black Panther. Black Panther is about a superhero who is protecting his country of Wakanda. Black Panther was really enjoyable for me because I really like superhero movies.       Another movie I saw this year was a classic which is Training Day. Training Day is about a veteran cop who let a rookie cop ride with him for one day. I really enjoyed this movie because I have a bunch of family members that are cops so it was a interesting movies to me. Another movie I saw this year was Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I really enjoyed this movie because I really like the Star Wars series and it is a enjoyable movie to watch.

    In the book  Purple Hibiscus,  there is a lot going on with Kambili coming home from her aunts house to her Dad beating her because she painted a photo of her late grandfather. I really like how the author showed how Aunt Ifeoma changed Kambili and Jaja. The aunt changed them by showing the fun and a loving personality which they did not get from home. Jaja and Kambili did not receive love from their parents because their Dad is very religious and there Mom is scared to love them because she is scared to the her husbands response.     Father Amadi is the first person we see Kambili really have a "crush" on. Kambili starts showing signs of like Father Amadi after she went to the stadium with him. This is also a crucial shift in us meeting Kamibil as readers because this is the first time she shows real emotion. Kambili shows emotion again whenever her grandfather passed away which was surprising to me.

     Trump and the US just sanctioned Russia to target Russian oligarchs that are tied to Putin. The sanctions are because of few events: these events were the poisoning of a Russian spy in England, the Russians tampering with the elections, and the biggest cyber attack in history. Trump credits himself as being the toughest president on Russia because of the tough sanctions he has placed on Russia. The US is planning on targeting successful businessmen and political figures that have close ties with Vladimir Putin.      The US is also urging is close and strong allies to take the same steps they are taking and to have strong sanctions on Russia. The US expelled 60 Russian spies and diplomats in response to the death of the Russian spy in England. Trump's administration wanted to hold a news conference but eventually decided not to. Trump's administration is still pressured from Russian hawks to take more sanctions on Russia. I agree that these sanctions are needed in the bat
